Chris Caggiano
CHRISTOPHER CAGGIANO is the author of the popular theater blog, Everything I Know I Learned From Musicals (www.everythingmusicals.com), which consistently ranks among the top 25 theater sites on the Web. He is also a member of the Outer Critics Circle and the Drama League, and is a founding member of the Independent Theater Bloggers Association. Chris is a full-time faculty member at the Boston Conservatory, where he teaches courses in musical-theater history and arts criticism, and was recently named liberal-arts faculty member of the year. In conjunction with his musical-theater history course, he directs a series of staged readings of historically important but underperformed shows, including Little Johnny Jones, Very Good Eddie, As Thousands Cheer, and an upcoming production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Allegro. Chris recently wrote the liner notes for the PS Classics release of the 1934 musical revue, Life Begins at 8:40. He was named a 2010 Fellow at the National Critics Institute at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center. Chris is currently working a number of book projects, including the one that inspired the title of his blog, Everything I Know I Learned From Musicals. As a performer, Chris has sung with the Boston Gay Men's Chorus since 1998, and has frequently contributed to the group as lyricist, librettist, dramaturge, and choreographer. He has performed numerous solos with the BGMC, including those at Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, and represented the group with the Boston Pops on the world-premiere engagement and recording of "With Voices Raised," by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens. Selected acting roles include Will Parker in Oklahoma, Zach in A Chorus Line, John Hinckley is Assassins, Vernon in They're Playing Our Song, the Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance, the Baker in Into the Woods, and Jacob Marley and Bob Cratchitt in A Christmas Carol, for which he also provided the stage adaptation.
