DAVID KIRSHENBAUM (Composer, Lyricist) has written the musical adaptation of Vanities, based on Jack Heifner's long-running hit play of the same name, which just completed a run at the Pasadena Playhouse and off-Broadway at Second Stage. He also wrote the score for the off-Broadway musical Summer of '42 (book by Hunter Foster); Party Come Here (book by Daniel Goldfarb), which was performed at the Williamstown Theater Festival in summer of 2007; and the holiday musical Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus (book by Myles McDonnell). Regional theatres that have produced his work include Goodspeed Musicals (CT), TheatreWorks (CA), Casa Manana (TX), Mill Mountain Theatre (VA), and the Victoria Theatre (OH). David is a contributing songwriter on the Disney Channel series Johnny and the Sprites, and the 2-CD album of his score for Summer of '42 is available on JAY Records. Current/upcoming projects include Sing Me A Happy Song, a new revue (in collaboration with songwriter George Stritt) and an original musical he is writing with Joe DiPietro. In addition to being recognized by the Jonathan Larson Foundation, David has received a grant from the National Alliance for Musical Theatre, and his score for Vanities won the San Francisco Critics Circle Awards for Best Score and Best Musical in its initial production at TheatreWorks, Palo Alto. David is a proud graduate of the University of Michigan, where he received a Bachelor of Musical Arts.
